How to Use Zoom – A Guide by Social Work Tech
I hope that all of you are staying home (as best as you can) and avoiding COVID-19 as best you can. Circumstance has made me put together a guide I can text to my clients and I want to share it with you.
I have all this tech and no time to put something meaningful together…
So I’ve been busy for the last several months years which has prevented me from posting anything meaningful or that my harshest critic (me) would like. Lucky for me, I’ve had a bit of a creative streak in the last few weeks where I have been able to make shapes and gather complimentary colors that make me happy and that aren’t total garbage.
Nothing like the ‘rona to come in and shake things up. All of a sudden, meetings and work that couldn’t be done remotely, are now being accommodated… that’s for another blog post.
I am fortunate to be working from home and being able to tele-commute. This in itself has posed challenges, as several of my clients have techonology barriers related to understanding how to use tech.
I’m hopeful that for most of my clients, they:
- Have a “smart”phone, whether or not they know they do, and
- They know how to use Facebook to some degree.
So I made a guide… or four…
I sure did. I made two types of guides – one that can be read on a mobile phone and another that is downloadable to PDF. Then I translated it from English to Spanish.
Please Note about my Spanish
No soy perdedor… I’m hella pocho, baby… so why don’tcha help me?
So look… I’m Mexican-American, living the dream of my immigrant parents by having an education and not laboring like they did. That being said… well, two things:
- I speak Mexican. What I mean by that is that I speak the same dialect of Spanish as the folk that I serve. We don’t do “vos”, a “pluma” is a pen (“boligrapho”), we go to “la libreria” to borrow a book (instead of “biblioteca”), and I mean nobody any disrespect.
- I’m pretty sure there are errors. If you feel compelled to bring something up, please contact me and I will consider your revision.
