I have been working as a case manager for the last few weeks and I have come across some great tech sites that Social Work Tech practioners can benefit from – I believe that these may help you and your clients as you help them to move forward!
Basic Life Skills
Howcast.com is a great resource for clients to learn some basic life skills. They have videos that are professionally produced by the website, as well as by contributers. Many skills that are taught are some that many of us take for granted. Some examples to check out include: How To Meet Women, How To Do Laundry, How To Achieve Personal Power by Setting Boundaries.
Depression Information
DepressionToolkit.org is a really great site which is run by the University of Michigan. The Toolkit provides information about depression, as well as videos, and treatment options. This website also addresses related mental disorders including bipolar disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse.
Check out the videos at the bottom of the front page for some excellent videos that normalize depression to those seeking information! For clinicians, there are also screening forms on this site as well!
Money Management and Financial Literacy
Moneywise.org has various training modules that include free downloadable financial literacy tools in PDF format. These are a great addition to your Social Work Toolbox that may benefit clients and many of these materials are in other languages, too (including Spanish)!
When you click into the Training Module, select the brochure in the Publication List, select your language (if other than English is preferred) and be sure to scroll all the way down to Download File.
Go Forth and Do Good Work!
I hope that these are useful to you in empowering you and your clients. These resources reflect different areas of a client’s life. Please leave a comment if these are of use to you!
Thank you!
